The Red Derby fails to heat up

One of football’s oldest rivalries took place in Anfield last night , in a game which was billed to be the match of season so far. Alas, as it often does, the match really failed to live up to expectation. However in hindsight, how did we think it was ever going to go another way?

After a string or poor results for Manchester united , excluding a recent great win against Leicester who admittedly are a shadow of their former self, it would have been disastrous for them to suffer another defeat, never mind that defeat coming at the hands of Liverpool. What’s more is that it’s not only Manchester United’s prestige being currently questioned, but their Manger too, Jose Mourinho. Some are questioning whether his peak has passed and his decline has begun. A heavy defeat, not dismissible as Liverpool have scored four or more goals in half their games this season already, would be a huge blow to Mourinho’s ego.
